My philosophy in practice draws on an ingrained sense of
personal responsibility and integrity throughout my life. In my desire to help
others, a wealth of professional knowledge, augmented by motivated learning,
and a caring interest in the well-being of my clients lend promise at the
outset to MAT # 5342 a health seeking relationship. Listening to a client’s needs and interests
allows for mutual understanding in the process of the treatment, helping to
assure a more successful outcome.
Outside my office practice, I have worked with the Cancer
Research Center of Hawaii as a clinical massage instructor participating in a
multi-year study of massage for breast and prostate cancer patients. I have
been contracted by Honolulu businesses to provide on-site massage and health care
for office workers. I have been the Secretary for the Hawaii Chapter of the
American Massage Therapy Association where I focused on continuing education
and professional development. I was able to set up advanced medical massage
workshops and have done volunteer
massage for special events. My experience in conducting yoga exercises for
community groups has been useful in helping people better understand body
movements and limitations.
On a more personal note, I have interests in travel
(especially Italy); anthropology; music (opera and r&r); alternative medical practice; alternate
culture (1960s Height Ashbury survivor); ocean sports.
